Is the calculator free to use?
Yes, EnergyHouse.top is completely free. No registration is required to use the main calculator. You can calculate energy consumption and payback periods for any home setup without creating an account.
How accurate are the calculations?
The calculations are estimates based on simplified physical models and historical climate averages. They are suitable for preliminary analysis and comparing different equipment configurations. For a precise engineering study, consult a certified energy specialist.
Which regions and countries are supported?
The calculator includes presets for major European cities: Kyiv, Warsaw, Berlin, London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Zurich, Stockholm, Prague, Vienna, and several Russian and CIS cities. You can also enter any custom coordinates and tariffs to calculate for any location in the world.
What equipment can I add to the calculation?
You can add solar roof panels, ground-mounted solar arrays, solar thermal collectors, solar air collectors, wind turbines, heat pumps, geothermal ground loops, battery storage, inverters, backup generators, EV chargers, underfloor heating, radiators, hot water boilers, solid-fuel boilers, gas boilers, HRV ventilation, composters, wells, smart home systems, and Starlink internet.
How is the payback period calculated?
Payback period is calculated by dividing the installation cost of the equipment by the annual savings it generates. Savings are estimated based on reduced grid electricity imports, energy exports (feed-in), and lower fuel costs compared to a baseline without the equipment.
Can I save or print the results?
Yes. Use the "Print / Save PDF" button in the Results section to generate a print-ready report. The report includes all consumption, production, and cost breakdowns and can be saved as a PDF from your browser's print dialog.
What does "self-sufficiency" mean in the results?
Self-sufficiency shows the percentage of your total annual energy consumption that is covered by your own renewable energy sources (solar, wind, etc.). A value of 100% means your home produces as much energy as it consumes over the year.
Why is Starlink not available for some regions?
Starlink satellite internet service is currently not available in Russia. When a Russian region is selected, Starlink is automatically excluded from the equipment list.
Does the calculator account for seasonal variation?
Yes. The calculator uses monthly climate data (solar irradiance, temperatures, heating degree days) to produce realistic monthly breakdowns of energy production and consumption, not just annual totals. You can also choose a seasonal consumption profile: Summer, Winter, or Average.
